The freedom of communication, implied by the academic ideal of the Internet, is not as total as people commonly suppose. If you own a domain (large or small,) you could find out more about the structure of the domain network by changing domain name registrars.

An evidence of how this affects security, is that search crawlers may skip whole segments of the web. The link above, shows the effect of stopping news reports about China, from reaching the West.

An important part of the same conversation might be privacy rights. Blogger.com does not index blogs with public indexes, leaving the suburban teen blogger a degree of privacy, while WordPress blogs are indexed prominently, as a feature.
